a little tense

Hi Sheller, you never know where those nasty little triggers are going to come from, but the most important thing is that you don't give in to them. You draw on the successes you've already seen to give you the confidence and strength to face the now. I know you can do it because you've already done 56 days. Let the tension go...breathe deep and know that you don't smoke anymore! Give the Lady 8 months!

Lady, you are such a good friend to me and to everyone here. I always look forward to your posts, because you are so wise and articulate. Eight months is huge!!! You deserve every reward that life brings you, my friend. You have worked hard for it. Boyfriend is smoking again...

Celia, you are not your boyfriend. Your boyfriend is not you. You must own your quit and your life. You must let him own his life. What everyone is telling you here is correct, even Joe! :p Remember, you are in control of your addiction and have been for 241 days. You are also in control of your life. Take charge! Do what you know is right. Don't make decisions through your emotions. This smoking issue has become a game to him, where he can blame you if he's feeling bad or if he is failing. Refuse to play! Keep your quit! The Daily Diet Watch IV

Thanks, Cheryl and Hummy. I'm normally a high energy person, so not feeling like going for a walk or doing exercise is such a drag. I have a great stretching dvd, so I will do that later today. I might even drag out the Tai Chi dvd that I only used once! Thanks for your kind and helpful words. Also, Cheryl, thank you and your 53 kids for reaching out to the world and embracing it with love. I need to stop smoking

Hi Justme and welcome! Start with the Quit Program Tools over on the left. They will help you determine how ready you are to quit, what your reasons are, and how you can cope with the withdrawals. Read through the threads and posts here. There are a lot of great people here who have been through everything you can imagine. Good luck! Rusty :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/13/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 440 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,334 Amount Saved: $1540 Life Gained: Days: 60 Hrs: 14 Mins: 20 Seconds: 22

41 days and still have cravings

Hi Aubanki and welcome! It doesn't matter if you have 41 days or 441 days, every now and then a cigarette thought will come into your mind. It's just a thought! You can change the subject because you are in control not the addiction. So change the subject by doing something different: go for a walk, take a shower, vacuum, drink a cup of tea or a bottle of icey cold water. Remember that you are in charge! Rusty :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/13/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 440 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,334 Amount Saved: $1540 Life Gained: Days: 60 Hrs: 14 Mins: 21 Seconds: 22

ah why

Ryan, you have done so well. Don't fall into the trap of "just one." You know it won't work. It'll just get you back to where you were before, and you would lose everything you have worked so hard for! Maybe there's something else you could find in common with her. Maybe she would be interested in going out to a healthy restaurant or going for a long walk. You never know! Hey, where's your quit meter? Rusty :)

ah why

Ryan, I don't think you're wierd. Of course, we've never met, but I know that we all go through times of worrying over things too much. I know I do and I frequently have to give myself a good talking to for obsessing over something. By the way, what is bdd? If she didn't know you smoked, then you probably look the same. I would suspect that you smell a LOT better now, though!!! However, I know that I went through a lot of changes when I quit smoking. Although I had some emotional issues, I also have a great sense of pride that I was able to do something I never thought I could do. What's important is how you feel about yourself, not how someone else thinks about you. If you feel proud, if you take care of your body and your mind, if you think positively, and if you take the time to help other people, then other people will admire you and think highly of you. ah why

Ryan, what are your junkie thoughts? Take them out and examine them. Is that evil addiction telling you that she'll like you if you go back to smoking? What a liar!!! Since someone "hinted" this to you, how about asking her? Maybe it will provide an opportunity to point her in this direction. trying again

Hi Wayne! I just ate a little piece of Dove candy and the wrapper said "Make a list of your dreams." I think it was meant for you!!! Make a list of why you want to quit. The positive stuff as well as the negative stuff. Write down how you will cope with the tough trigger times: make a plan! And write down how you will reward yourself as you get through each milestone, whether it be an hour, a day or a week. Also, be sure to eat something every couple of hours to keep your blood sugar up. That will help with the spacy feelings. Watch your caffiene intake and do drink lots of water and juices. Stay here, or get in bed and play rehab (that's what it is, you know) or go for a walk at a great place. Take it one day at a time, Wayne. You can do it...it CAN be done!
