Hi, Pru...
Welcome to the "Insomiacs Club!" :)
Here it is 2:45 a.m., and I need to get up in only a couple of hours for work. Before when I couldn't sleep, I'd have a cig, "relax," and eventually go back to sleep.
Now, I take a relaxing bath, come here to read some posts, and think about how many times I used a cigarette to pass the time of day, when in reality, all I was doing was using it as an excuse to not get on my life.
Old habits die hard. Try and replace them with something that keeps you busy and is positive.
Easier said than done, I know. But, we're all in this together. So, come here often and get the strength you need. You'll find this group a generous and supportive bunch who more often than not, know exactly from whence you speak. :)

Hey, Jacko...
I'll trade you your first five days for my 21! ;p
Within 24 hrs I twisted my ankle, and ended up in the Emergency Room with a foot the size of a football. Two days later I was socked with $1,000 worth of unexpected repair bills to the house and car. A week later, a pipe burst and filled my finished basement with more than 1200 gals of water. And, the following week I learned I had been downsized at work and will have no job after Aug 4.
I can hardly wait to see what the next week brings. ;) But so far, I've held fast and I have faith you will, too.

Welcome Amethyst!
You've already made it through one of the toughest times -- your first week. Take pride in that, and realize that every journey starts with that first step.
Come here often -- read, post, vent, share, commiserate and learn.
We're all making the same journey -- and when things get hard, don't forget you have lots of shoulders to lean on. :)

No, you misunderstand me, stickin...
I am being positive about my quit, however, I am also being realistic.
In order to have a successful quit, you always have to remember N.O.P.E.
Best of luck to you,
Livadia :)

Do you happen to have a laptop, Mr. Ed? If so, drag it with you which is what I did. Otherwise, look for an Internet Cafe and pay a few pounds to log on for your "SSC Fix."

Thanks, stickin...
It does get a bit easier as time goes by, but it's always one day at a time, and one puff away from starting all over again.
You just have to be vigilant and be determined.
Good luck!

305207 Goodbye my friend.....
You were in my life longer than anyone, for more than 22 years, all day every day you were by my side. Towards the end i would panic if you werent around i felt lost without you.
When we started out we had such a laugh, it was a casual relationship, and we had such fun. Who would have thought our relationship would turn out as serious as it did?
You certainly were there for me my friend, through the good and the bad. Whenever i had something to celebrate you were there with me my friend. Whenever i was upset, you held my hand.I was never alone. Its crazy, remember when I had my baby, i lied to the nurse, pretended I wanted to use the loo, so that i could escape and spend time with you.
You became so important to me. You were more important than anything or anyone, although I probably wouldnt have admitted that at the time. You always came first, nothing could come between us. I thought i enjoyed your company. But the price for your friendhship was high. You made me believe that i could not live without you. You made me so dependent on you, normal functions were not normal if you were not around. Things went downhill when the price i paid for your friendship grew higher. You were in my space so much, I could no longer breath, you were suffocating me. I was paying 52.50 a week for the pleasure of your company, you must have been laughing!
The stress of my relationship with you was beginning to get etched on my face. The tar had destroyed my teeth. Its funny how i never noticed that until it was too late. I was scared to leave you behind. When I had treatment for cervical cancer i was told that my relationship with you had made it worse, and could even have been a primary cause. I vowed then to leave you behind. I hated you for what you had done to me.
I tried to shake you off. I ran and ran but you would always find a way back into my life. Even when I got away from you, when things got bad, I would tell myself that you were all that i deserved and let you back in.
I so wanted to escape f
Still hanging in there with six weeks down as of yesterday. :)

BF,
No reason to get down about all this...
1) Your husband does have ONE job offer. A job means money coming in which will take some of the stress off your family.
2) No reason why your hubby can't take the one job, and continue to look for others that enable him to stretch and grow.
3) Suggest that your hubby contact the company that *didn't* offer him the job that he would have preferred, and talk to them about why they didn't hire him. Sounds a little daft -- but if you do it in the right way (telling them that you are sincere and enthusiastic about getting into that field and would like to know how you can build your skills/expertise to be a stronger candidate), most are flattered and willing to be helpful.
4) You have been so strong and steadfast through all this. It's hard, I know -- I lost my job a month ago, still have nothing, and have no significant other, let alone someone as wonderful as you, to stand by me.
5) Feel good, stay strong, and keep on keeping on. We're all pulling for you and are in this together. :)
