BY WILBUR, he's done it!
Your first 6 months celebration is the most special Mr Ed. It is the one you have had to really fight for, and many many congratulations to you. Reward yourself. And again.
Hope you had a great holiday despite the air traffic crisis.
love,
Lizzie :)

Ex-slave,
Don't panic - this happens a lot around the 100 day mark. It will pass....just sit it out. You should feel better in a couple of weeks. I also had occassional batches of a few days at a time when I could be very tearful during the first year, but would return to 'normal' in between.
Shaila - you have just been through hell and heck weeks, and taking your first steps beyond. It is an emotional thing that you are doing. It does improve quite quickly from here, but with occassional steps backwards as Ex-slave is experiencing.
Things do settle down eventually, but it takes time to heal. It is definately worth keeping with the quit. I am so happy to be an ex-smoker and really feel sorry for those who are still entrapped.
Lizzie :)

Serenity,
You are doing fantatically well. All those life changes are bound to make you emotional, never mind the quit.
There is one thing I want you to remember though : there is no such thing as one cigarette. There is an incredible relapse rate (about 90%) triggered from just 1....and it's not an immediate thing. What happens is you have 'one' and then quit immediately again. But then a few days later, you think, well I quit again last time after 'just one' so obviously I'm on top of things now. That's what we all thought when we first started smoking.....and look where it led us.
Don't worry about having 'junkie thoughts'....you will get them. Everyone gets them. This battle is all about learning to silence the 'inner voice'.
Keep putting one foot in front of the other....and you will get there.
Cheers!
Lizzie

Hi Shevie,
I was just passing through and saw this. Way to Go!
You know if we ever have a SSC reunion, we won't have to worry about what people look like, just see the t-shirts!
Many congratulations!
Lizzie :)
Pam,
This quitting thing is like a journey of discovery into the unknown world of our subconscious thoughts! We have to be honest with ourselves for once, no more lies or excuses. We have to face the addiction and look it in the eye. It's an incredibly powerful moment.
You have come so far! Great post.
Lizzie :)

Hi ex-slave,
I guess it is not a case of what has happened, but what is going to happen next? There is about a 90% relapse rate if you smoke again, is this what you want? If not, you have to take control back right now.
I do not mean to dismiss your troubles, indeed I do understand that inner longing for some comfort, but your troubles remain, smoking does not remove them....just masks them for a few minutes....and then you have your problems back again.
You also have to decide how you want to go forward. Is this going to be 'it', or just 'for the time being until something else happens'? I am sorry if this sounds very tough, I do not mean to be tough on you personally, only on the problem that you are facing. I totally accept that you have been through very upsetting events. If you were further along in your quit, you would not experience the same longing that hits you now.
Now pick yourself up and continue your fantastic quit. You will never regret that you did. Have strength and feel a HUG.
Lizzie :)
