See if you have local AA meetings where you live. Some cities might even have LGBT based groups. But, its not a must, everybody with a desire to stop drinking is welcome in the rooms.

Hello Everyone,
I have been struggling with Anxiety and Depression for quite a long time. I just finished 5 years of intensive care-giving with both my Mother and Aunt. I unfortunately also started self-medicating with alcohol, when I assumed the caregiver role after my father passed away. I also 'came out' as a Gay man at the age of 54, I am 61 now.  I went through a divorce with a women that I still love very much.
I am struggling to cut back. I go for a day or 2 then think it is ok to have one beer and end up having 5 or 6. I am looking for a group to talk to and share my thoughts and concerns. I really want to be self-determined and also supportive to others.
One day at a time I guess. Thanks for being there! So glad to have connected.
Be well.
Pumbaa.
