Chantix make you sick?

A fellow Chantix quitter here... I learned to eat something BEFORE taking it and following it with a full glass of water. If I ate something about 15 minutes before I took the pill, it seemed to help. Give it a bit of time for your body to adjust and consult your Dr. if the naseau become worrisome. Happy quitting! This is my first post; be kind. I've been on Chantix since the end of February. And like many, as soon as my dosage was upped, it made me very nauseaous and sleepy. The effects seemed to vary quite a bit even though I always took after a meal. The side effects were always worse at lunch rather than dinner. The sleepiness subsided, but not the nausea. My doctor said if I was ok with only taking at night, that was fine. And, as I sit here at work with killer nausea, I have decided that I am only going to take at night from now on. Good luck to all. Maitai, Please consult your pharmacist or physician. This is a common side effect among Chantix users and can be resolved with a small change. Danielle ____________________ The SSC Support Team

Hi Toxinfree and welcome. I have been on Chantix since March 3rd. When I went to 2 mgs, I also was very nauseated. I thought it would subside in time as my body got used to it, but it hasn't. I've tried it with lots of water, food, etc., but it still makes me sick. Guess it is different for everyone. I still find that better than smoking. I have smoked approximately 1-1/2 packs for 43 years. Have tried a few times before to quit, but with no success. It sure is working this time, but I'm sure the will to want to quit is also helping. Hang in there. You can do it. Hi toxinfree I used Chantix also. It is one of the side effects. If it doesn't help to take on a full stomach and plenty of water you should tell the doctor, he may have to adjust your dose. I used for the full 12 weeks have been off over a week now and having to many thoughts of taking puffs of my husbands cig. Called the doctor and he is giving me another month to help me. I guess you can take up to 5 months if needed. Good luck and welcome to the groupe Jnine My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/14/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 94 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,890 Amount Saved: $258.5 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 8 Mins: 41 Seconds: 0

I quit smoking with Chantix. I find I have to have a full stomach or I will gert nauseous. If I did not eat enough, I will start sipping on a drink and it usually stops. I can deal with that little draw back for the immense help it has given me.

I am also a Chantix user... Today is day 7 on it. Tomorrow is my quit date and also the day I go to 2mg. Give me a day or 2 and I will let you know if it makes me sick. So far I have been fine.. having some weird dreams, but I can handle that.
