I started Chantix a month ago and have now been free of cigs for two weeks. I did go through withdrawals the first week and I continued smoking anyway - sort of a habit thing. It gave me no pleasure at all anymore and I finally just said...WTH..and I was done. I went out one night and a beer seemed to go hand in hand with a cig. I smoked. The next day.....haven't smoked since. I couldn't care less about them. Yes, occassionally there will be this pang - afterall I smoked for almost 29 years! It was a part of my life but I find that I gave it way too much importance and significance to my mental well-being. I feel much better physically and mentally now than I have since I was...well...maybe 12!! One thing that does bug me about the Chantix: my joints ache like crazy in the morning and my sinuses are stuffed. Every single day I get up like a 90 year old woman and it takes me a few minutes to get in gear. Does this ever go away? Not much coughing to speak of though.
