Can you feel the love and support????

Ok, here I go humor me. Some of us have tried to quit in the past and failed for whatever excuse we came up with. I really do mean excuse. I might be censored for this but.. 16 years ago I lost the love of my life in a fatal car crash, I survived with a broken back healed and I can use my legs and live an active life. He used to beg me to quit smoking and I continued to smoke however I quit every illegal drug we were into at that time. Today I went to the cementary and told him I quit smoking. I told him all about this support group and how I am learning to live a new life healthy and happier. You see I had some other addictions at that time and quit after his death. I did this for him, and have maintained that quit. Smoking has been the one thing up until now that I have not been able to stop until I was told of this support group. Yes, this has been my decision to quit however with all the support of my family, coworkers, and friends I have relied on this site most of all to get the true results that I'm seeing. This is because we know first hand what it feels like to quit smoking. People who have never smoked or had any kind of addiction have no idea of how important this is to us and the major accomplishment of even going one day without a cigarette means to us. I have received some wonderful support and advise here that I could not get from anyone else. I'm feeling better and amazed that no one has given up on me or anyone else here and I love you all for it. We're all in this together. God bless!! almost 1 mth......

Hi Disneyfan, Great quit you have and 1 more day closer to your month celebration. When I reached my month I also developed a really bad sore throat and didn't know if it was from quitting, anyway I went to the doctors and had strep throat. You might want to get checked anyway to be on the safe side. Besides I'm sure your doc will be happy to hear you'll have 30 days smoke free!! Old New Guy

Hi Bear, Hi Changing, You two make me laugh.... My daughter walked in the living room and asked me what I was laughing at and I couldn't explain it was about Bear and me in a hot tub with Bear wearing a speedo. Just too funny ;) Changing, like you said I didn't intend on Bear to wear a speedo. As we say here in NY clothing optional LOL.Besides I know I gained some weight during this quit which I am working on. I hope to get rid of it before my milestone gets to the beach. Things have calmed down a bit for me, boyfriend finally moved out but daughter is giving me more gray hairs everyday. At 42 years old I'll look 90 by the time she reaches 18 years of age. She certainly has put my quit to the test and I've held strong, she on the other hand is starting to lose the battle. Well Bear it'll 50 days for you when you read this and I'm waiting for you. You have quite a remarkable strength that I wonder if you see it in yourself yet. You have struggled through yet battled this addiction with a sense of humor and a sincere concern for others during their quit. I will raise my glass to you and a toast for you Bear on celebrating your 50 days. CONGRATULATIONS!! Welcome aboard!! JDK Smokefree Diary / General Thread

Hey Kev, You know it's funny I read alot of your post when you first quit and then quit again and then again and you know deep down I knew you would eventually quit and stay quit which you have done a remarkable job. I replied back a few times and I am so happy that things are going well for you and you started a new thread. I want to thank you for your support and the help you have given to others. You are proof that quitting is possible even if you have to make a few attempts it is possible and can be accomplished. Thanks Kev Kayla My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 54 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,918 Amount Saved: $594 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 4 Mins: 50 Seconds: 40

Advice anyone?

Hi Angela, After eating was really hard for me so was going for a drive. I drank alot of water would eat licorice. You don't have a sweet tooth you can try licorice root which could be purchased at a health food store. Many quitters here have use pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds in the shell. This keeps your hand and mouth busy to get past those urges. I would have strawberry twizzlers in the car to give me something to reach for. I would bite off the ends and inhale during the drive but don't be surprised if you find yourself laughing after chewing it down a bit an rolling down the window to throw it out. I found myself throwing candy out the window like it was a cigarette. You can do this!!! Stay close, post often and ask for help any time you need!!! Please don't let your guard down

Jan58 I feel your sorrow and wish I could give you a hug so I'm sending a hug your way. Don't give up on yourself or your quit!! You have helped me and I am here for you anytime you ask. When things get to the point that you might smoke again post your feelings. Who cares if you ramble about what it is that makes you want to smoke, that is what this site is here for. To give you an outlet to vent and ask for help and let you know you are not alone. I give you alot of credit for your courage and your obvious desire to beat this damn addiction. I'm soooooooooooo glad you haven't given up and realize I care and so do so many others. I'm not trying to make you feel bad only letting you know that I want to see you beat this addiction and please don't entertain the thought of giving up on your quit. You can do this!!!!
