Gosh I just Love your energy joyful! I want to share something that I have been experiencing for a bit now this afternoon. This morning was easier, lemme tell ya!!! That first craving was no big deal, I was so past it as I remained on the site and reading about what I can keep doing to avoid the FEED. I am calling it the FEED because the NICODEMON is ALWAYS HUNGRY IN ME. BUT I AM SO MUCH STRONGER THAN THAT NICODEMON; WE ALL ARE!!!!! So, ok, I took a shower with the intention to go get some healthy snack food later and get other stuff done...and usually after the shower I light up while I am doing my hair, I leave it in the tray while I flat iron, but I couldn't do it this time...and it was weird doing my hair with no nic stick to sort of help me pass the time. Yeah I find it boring doing my hair...I could be doing better things with my time. WHAT I NOTICED: If I am bored with what I am doing, I am also ANXIOUS to be doing something better/more productive/more fun so I ran and grabbed one of my CRYSTALS to relieve that anxiety way down inside bubbling up in me...and it worked!!! WHAT ABOUT FOOD: Food you say? I've been eating all day. Not once, not twice, just everything nice. I have no idea, when the urge will clear, how long it will last, or if maybe I should fast. I just know I am up, to and fro, from the top of the cupboard to the bottom of my stove! I don't care how many wheat thins I snare, or how many mixed nuts I've devoured over there. A handful of cereal if you please, with just a bit of soy to put me at ease. You may not believe but what a treat---I NEVER THOUGHT CANDY CANES TASTED SO SWEEEEET!!! And OHH-the Caffiene- in pots of two, and my water bottle refills are crystal blue. I know I am seeing the light, and I don't know if I'm doing this right, but with all my mustered might, I WILL WIN THIS NICO-FEED FIGHT!! Writing is my anti-nic! I AM POURING MYSELF INTO WHAT I LOVE TO DO AND I DON'T HAVE TO STOP AND LIGHT UP ANYMORE TO CONTINUE BEING THE BEST ME I CAN BE!!! YESTERDAY IS HISTORY TOMORROW IS A MYSTERY TODAY IS A GIFT THAT'S WHY IT'S CALLED THE PRESENT MANY BLESSINGS EVE :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 13 Amount Saved: $3

Hey Joy! Oh No way I do that same thing too--it's like I have a fixed 'mirror mirror on the wall, who do you see back their if you recall'. And that is the future me looking at me back here and it feels like I am in a constant time warp. I am so glad I am not alone in the warp. But I may be the only one who is warped in the warp. LOL. MANY BLESSINGS!! Maintaining My Quit: Day 2

Hi Everyone, I've quit smoking yesterday. Today is day 2. I have been ready to release this for while and just never had the last bit of strength to say "I desire to be smoke free more than I desire to smoke" but I do now. I found this great website which is really helping me to focus on the positive choices I am making and to really be proactive in doing them, and is really helping me look at the reasons why I chose to smoke, and what I can do to replace the urge and cravings with healthy choices now, and I AM DOING IT! I thought I would post my progress here briefly because I am really proud of myself and the choice I made to live a smoke-free life and have been inspired to share with everyone here trying to maintain their quit too. I AM CONFIDENT THAT I CAN LIVE SMOKE FREE FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. I also wrote a poem about it and have a few major reasons why I want to live smoke free: -I desire to laugh harder and longer without coughing every time -I desire to run again, not run out of breath -I desire to chant longer, deeper tones in mediatation -I desire to put the money I save on smokes toward crystals and other tools that will enhance and elongate my life, not take years off of it. -I desire to live without the worry of when my next smoke will be, or the fear of running out. I'd rather go for a run around the park! -Cleaner, whiter, healthier teeth, fresher breath, tasting food again, appreciating a really good piece of cheesecake in all its' glory with a cup of cappucino! The list goes on! Here's the poem I wrote: __________________________________ My take on no smoke No smoking for me thats The way it should be Not because of what others say Its because I wanna live another day Elongating my life Thats right, no fight I wont let the black smoke blow out my pipes To my lungs Cant laugh long enough Without the cough to top it off I dont like the way I feel Its a hunger thats unreal I wanna lose this addiction And remember its just fiction My life is real and smoke is a lie I dont know how Im gonna quit But Im definitely gonna try Its been 24 hours and no smoke No its no joke, but I also have a cold I know to you that must get old And to me one day is like a week Because freedom from smoki

Maintaining My Quit: Day 2

THANKS EVERYONE!! I am feeling happier now, wierd! But it has something to do with the "knowing" that I AM BIGGER THAN THE NICODEMON!!! I CAN DO THIS! *grabs the sun-dried tomato and basil flavored box of wheat thins with big grin*!!! I am heading to the grocery to pick up umm, more healthy snacks now!! I will keep you posted, it seems I am really into writing about stuff, always have been but now I am more inspired to do it--you might say it is becoming my anti-nic! Thanks so much for the support & encouragement. It is really helping me and it is so good to know you are all here when I need it the most, too!!! Many Blessings Eve :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12 Amount Saved: $3 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 3 Mins: 32 Seconds: 21

DAY 3 SMOKE FREE!!

Boy was last night TUFF!!!! I could hardly get to sleep, and I finally drifted off after a good hard cry! LOL! I am just a wimperin fool at night. I don't know what is up with that emotional-coaster but it really hits me pretty hard, I hope it doesn't last that long. I can deal with the spaciness and the hunger and most of the symptons EXCEPT the nervous craving inside me...that drives me nuts!!! But I am not smoking. It is just not an option. (Thanks to WENDYWOO who posted that cool story about the twins who both quit smoking that inspired me a GREAT deal!!) I have left the house today and am at work. Boy things are strange. Day 3, here we go. No turning back, I've come to far already. Ok I'll stop rambling now, and will write a quality article later. If I could only stop the insatiable hunger and the coffee pot that keeps brewing every 15-30 minutes (LOL) *braces herself to hold onto the caffiene addiction with all her might* cuz that's all I got left :p Hope everyone is doing well and having a great smoke free day!!! Many Blessings!! DAY 3 SMOKE FREE!!

Thanks everyone for all the support & encouragement...I 'd like to share a little bit of my background - what I've been through and what I am going through now. I did quit once before, and I stayed quit for 4 years. This was almost 10 yrs ago. Back then I smoked Marlboro's and was up to 1 and 1/2 packs a day for 15 years before I dropped it cold turkey. THAT was HELL. I picked up the smoke again, 4 yrs later but this time went with the natural stuff and stayed at less than 1/2 a pack a day. There were times I went over the 10 count, and I payed for it the next day with the smoking hangover. I know you know what I am talking about. The horrible cough and the ache in your head that feels like someone played "pin the tornado on the brain" inside your head and stuck around all day long just like a migraine. Anyway, I started smoking for different reasons the 2nd time around, but you know that saying, the road to HELL is paved with good intentions. Now the intention originally was to keep grounded, but that went out the window when I started getting stressed when I was self-educating myself in computers. So now I was smoking to stay grounded and de-stress. Now years later it has become HELL. I am relived that I have quit now, and I am not in hell anymore. Because if I was, I would still feel like complete crap, be coughing (well I'm coughing as a result of quitting but I know it's not forever at least I am not hacking up a lung!!). I am sort of neutral right now, not too high or low not too shaky or slow, I am just right there, knowing I made the right decision and will do whatever necessary to stay quit. I just know I am. I know why it's called hell week for good reason. I did experience it so much worse back then. And I am SO GRATEFUL NOW TO HAVE THIS PLACE TO COME TO BECAUSE IT STILL SUCKS AND IT MAY NOT BE AS BAD AS BEFORE BUT IT STILL IS BAD!!!! LOL. I laugh at myself because I am not used to seeing myself rant like that. I am usually calm, maybe I will change my name to "U2BCALM". WOOOHOO. My highs are like Daffy Duck running his tail feathers on the lake screaming his "HOOHOO HOOHOO HOOHOO HOOOHOOO" and my lows are like 100 yawns in a row and I feel like a test subject for valiumes...what a heck of an addiction this is. One thing is for sure though.

Great Day Thanks to YOU

Hi Alley!! Congrats on your quit-whoa 20yrs! BLESS YOUR HEART!! I did smoke awhile myself then quit for 4 yrs then started again now I am quit 3 days in. I can really relate to the work and the weekend thing--this weekend totally sucked, I kept my chin up though and did whatever i could to stay focussed on this forum and snack on wheat thins (actually truth be told anything in sight LOL) and hang on with bated breath for the next moment to pass. I have found that being at work today has totally made a difference. I usually never smoked at wor either, sometimes if it was a stressful day I would go out for 1 or 2 during the day, but I had not felt that "need" for awhile now and had basically stopped when at work. It is the nights and the weekends. More so the weekends!!! And it is so funny how everyone looks forward to their weekend and we are not LOL. Oh well, THIS TOO SHALL PASS. I just wanted to say hello and congrats and tell you that you are not alone in how you feel on the work and weekend thing. I am also an emotional wreck at night. I have to cry before I go to sleep. I am hoping tonight does not hit as hard as last night. Well I'm off. Have a GREAT night without a cloud of smoke anywhere in sight! :) MANY BLESSINGS!! Eve :)
