New Here too

Hi Kendra,

As you have already heard, there are many people within this support group that share the same questions and concerns as you.  We are all a group of individuals who support each other.

Please take the time the look through the online Panic Program.  This program is 12-weeks and involves the many diagnostic tools that may be printed out and shared with your physician.  Each session is based on the previous session, so we strongly advise that you work slowly through the program and not jump ahead.

These tests may or may not be for you but they are "free".  If you have any question or concerns with our “TOOLS”, you can contact us at support@paniccenter.net.  We at the The Panic Center are open to any questions or concerns you may have.

Please continue to strive forward and lean on us for support.

Panic Attacks

Members,

As previously discussed, panic attacks falsely trigger the fight or flight response. Some individuals may wonder “why can’t people learn to ignore it?”

Well, people with panic disorder experience the fear response in situations that are not dangerous. You know that already. You probably know that people are also really good at learning things. In fact, people are so good at learning that all you have to do is give them one bad experience. For example, if someone has a panic attack in a specific situation, let’s say an elevator or a grocery store, they’ll learn to associate that situation with panic attacks. In this case learning leads people to expect panic attacks in elevators or grocery stores. When people worry, they get anxious. When they get anxious, they increase their chances of having a panic attack. What can result is that people will worry so much about having a panic attack, that they’ll avoid elevators and grocery stores at all costs.

What most people without panic disorder can’t appreciate is the intensity of fear people with panic disorder.

Please tell us what you feel like when you’re anxious? What are you anxious about?

Driving alone

Members,

Do you struggle with anxiety? Today we will be looking at sample exposure plans to help you overcome your fears.

If you fear driving…

• Sit outside and look at the car for 1 hour
• Sit in a car outside alone with the engine off for 1 hour
• Sit in a car outside alone with the engine on for ½ hours. (Do not do this in an enclosed space due to carbon monoxide poisoning.)

• At a quiet time drive around one block for one hour
• Drive in a quiet residential neighborhood for 1 hour
• Drive in the same residential area at a busier time of day
• Drive on a wider street during a quiet time of day for an hour
• Repeat as above but make turns, change lanes & stop.
• Drive on a wider street during a busier time of day for an hour.
• Repeat as above but make turns, change lanes & stop.
• Increase the amount of time and frequency of your driving gradually.

Is driving a fear of yours?

Back to school anxiety

Members,

Many adolescents experience tremendous anxiety when returning to school.

If you had the chance to counsel them, what guidance would you give them?  What parts of this program would you encourage them to perform?

Please share your comments or any thoughts you have about anxiety and returning to school.

Hi

Hi Matt,

First off, I want you to know that there is no scam here.  However, the program does require that you put in an healthy level of effort and work.

With that said, welcome to the community.

There are many people within this support group that share the same questions and concerns as you.  We are all a group of individuals who support each other.

If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find many supportive tests.  These tests are not diagnostic tools and are not a replacement or substitute for a physician's advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor.

We also have developed an online Program.  This program is 12-weeks and involves the tools mentioned above.  Each session is based on the previous session, so we strongly advise that you work slowly through the program and not jump ahead.

These tests may or may not be for you but they are "free".  If you have any question or concerns with our “TOOLS”, you can contact us at support@paniccenter.net.  We are the Support Specialist for The Panic Center and are open to any questions or concerns you may have.

Please continue to strive forward and lean on us for support.
