My 2nd Smokefree Birthday...

Thank you Ashley and Alice..

I had a very nice birthday

While I was far away from home, my son called with a problem with his truck and couldn't get to work..I did panic at first and immediatley wanted a cig to solve the problem . And there were people (strangers) where I was, that had cigs I could have bummed.

However, I didn't, I realized that I needed to learn how to solve a problem without smoking, the cig really wasn't going to get my son's truck fixed, now was it?

Everything (finally) got calmed down and my son got another ride to work. Will deal with truck problem on Monday.

The rest of my birthday went well also...went to a play in the evening, and enjoyed myself again.

I dreamed a dream

So let's talk first about the fact that when I was a smoker, I was never smoking in my dreams, was it like that for you?

My first 3 quit attemps I had smoking dreams all the time. I was kind of  "on the ropes" about it, it seemed good while I was asleep, but made me mad when I woke up.

Now, this 4th (and final) quit, I have not had one smoking dream in 34 days .... I don't know if this is a good thing or bad???

Any insight on why before and not now??

What?s a quit buddy?

A 'Quit Buddy' to me means someone quitting at the same time and basically going thru the same things at the same time, which my son was suppose to be for me and me for him, but he hasn't made 'the quit' yet, still going to try tho soon.

All the 'oldies' and others at SSC, my friends and co-workers are what I call "Supporters". Some have never smoked and don't have a clue what I am going thru, just want me to quit for various reasons.  Some have smoked before and are at various stages of their quit and can still help me with a lot of my issues.

I cherish all of the above, because I need all the help I can get.

Thanks

Reaping the Rewards???

You are so right Gimm, my sense of taste is also "off the chart", probably the reason I have gained 5lbs since I quit. I will work on that later.

But fruit, mexican food and chocolate taste "amazing" now....I can't hardly believe it..

STINKY!!!

Yes Sparky, I can relate.

I work in a doctors office and I can smell smokers the minute they come thru the front door and can smell them for long after they leave.

It is hard for me to imagine that I smelled like that and none of my co-workers ever told me how bad it was, I thought I just smelled for a little bit after I had went out for a smoke break and if the wind happen to be blowing hard that day, it surely blew the smell off of me. I didn't even realize that I smelled that bad all day....How embarrassing .

Well, all I can say, is it WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN.

An Alphabet Game..

During this past month I have gained a little over 5 lbs. that is not good.

I know everyone says to eat more fruits and veggies, and I am, considering I didn't eat any before I quit

But my problem is, I only know of a few of the common ones, so I thought we could play a little game to help me out here, what do ya say???

I will get it started:

Apple
Banana
Cauliflower
Date

Now, you take the next few letters in order and let's see if we can get everyone involved and go all the way to Z.

Next ?????

November is Healthy Skin Month

Actually Ashley I have (try to say that 3 times fast, lol),

But not just me, I posted in another forum somewhere, that a co-worker told me my complextion was looking healthier. She had noticed even before I had.

But not just looking healthy, I can feel the difference also, seems smoother and a lot less dryed out, which will be a good thing this time of the year.

Hey Weekenders.....

You know who you are...  We are the ones that hang out here on the SSC all weekend just lurking

BECAUSE:

1. Weekends are still really hard for us. So we come here to read posts, post in the forums, research forums for help and support.

and/or

2. We do not have a life and have absolutely nothing else to do on the weekend.

So, which ever the reason or both ...let't find something to do.

There is a post up in the Weight Gain Forum called An Alphabet Game, it still has some letteres left to complete or we could start a list of things that ex-smokers can do over the weekend when the  weather outside gets frightful

Okay, I'll start:

Playing solitaire with real cards at a table (not on the computer, remember how??)

Playing a board game, hopefully you have someone at your house that you can play with (but if you don't you can still run around the table and play for both people!!!)

Read a book or if need be... read several books.

Any One Else???
