New Here

Welcome msreader1!  You have picked a great support site.  The people here are wonderful and will support you every step of the way.  Don't worry about rambling, almost all of the post's you'll see have some form of rambling.  It sounds like your going at this cold turkey which can be fun but it will be nice to get all the nic out of your system.

I would recommend the book "Allan Carr's - The easyway to quit smoking."  It helps with the desire so you don't feel like your loosing a best friend anymore.  It's written by an ex smoker so there are no scary pictures or words like your stupid, etc.  I was on Champ-IX for the first week of my quit and after reading the book I quit the Champ the next day.  I'm on day 18 and feeling awesome.  Congratulations and good luck msreader1.  I'm sure you'll be fine.  Post here often, especially at this time in your quit.

Wait, I'm not a morning person

Interesting!  I guess I'm not quite alone on this one although AK I don't understand how you can drink that blah...My dad drank a lot of pop when he was young and ended up becoming a diebetic...He switched to diet and after a few months said that the diet starts to taste as good as the regular did and the regular tastes awful....I think it's the drugs personally...For instance after you don't smoke for a long time the first cigarette always tastes like ash A.K.A what it really tastes like but after awhile we adapt and convince ourselves it's awesome...Luckily I'll never have to worry about that ash taste again....

I also share your weird patterns AK...At night I was feeling exhausted but I was so restless I had trouble getting to sleep.  I also woke up a lot during the night.  It didn't bother me though, after a couple nights I noticed that although I was spending a lot of time walking around at night I was still waking up refreshed in the morning.

CD - I read something on that before.  I can't remember where but they say that because there is more oxygen going to our brains now while we sleep we don't need as much as we used to to feel refreshed.

Anyways, thanks all.  Good chat.

Newbie aboard!

Hey Reggie,

The English sounds great.  My advice would be to let everybody know that you are quitting smoking.  You will already have a couple weeks under your belt so letting people know will save you from the "Hey Reggie, wanna go out for a smoke?  SURE....I mean, no I don't smoke anymore."  Just tell them all up front and ask for their support.

I would also recommend "Alan Carr's - The easyway to quit smoking."  Great book.  You also won't get any better support than the people here at the SSC.  Good job Reggie, I know we'll beat this.

I'm really hurting right now...

So obviously I'm a little late for this party.  lol.  AK your doing great.  The nicotine is just trying to negotiate.  Remember there are no REAL benefits of smoking.  You are awesome AK.  Keep up the great work and kick some ash.
