Rewards, Nicotine, and the Brain - The Original Version

Hi Reggie,
Wow, you are doing sooooo good!
Already past Heck week!

I was really lucky to have found this post but it was already a few weeks into my quit.
It was hard to find enough of those little rewards -like he says our brain used to get rewarded with a cig 20 times a day-
chocolate did the trick!
Good luck to you, you are doing great!

Trying AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,
Welcome to the best place for quitting!

Daily Llama has given you some great advice and it is all worth following.
There so many members here who have quit so be sure to read the old posts for more ideas and strength.
You will need it in your situation. Think creatively.... go outside or take a walk after meals so you are not around all
that smoke. Make your room a no smoking sanctuary, you place to go when it gets tough.

Most of all... BE PREPARED by doing the program on the home page. Just like Daily said... it's the best way to keep on track.
Work on one thing at time, worry about the weight later. :)

Take care, post anytime.
Good luck!

There Is No Good Reason!

Hmmmm, I don't know, Pen.
In my book that one about the Chicken McNuggets might qualify.
 ;)

This is quite insightful. There are any number of reasons that we would have smoked before. Now we know smoking changes NOTHING.  If I started to smoke again, McNuggets wouldn't fall from the sky and I would be stinky to boot!

I had a minor meltdown yesterday. I didn't want to smoke but had no idea how to handle it but I came here to post for suggestions. Got a great answer right away! And there you have it.

Thank you for this post. So true.

There Is No Good Reason!

Yes, exactly!

I just noticed, further down your post, the one about the rain storm. Trees bending, rain lashing.
It struck me that as a smoker, I would have been out IN the storm smoking! Weren't we all so ridiculous?
