Chantix users - how did you feel?

Great to know that your journey begins today. You can do this and will be so glad you did. I'm still very much a "newbie" but am starting day four as a non-smoker. It seems like a miracle. Will follow your progress with support and interest. Go Starfish! Today Is the Day

Happy Birthday Starfish! I've been thinking about you and hoping you would start the Chantix today. That is great! Just to give you some encouragement, I am now starting day five as a non-smoker and I AM NOT CRAVING. I really feel like this time I can be a non smoker forever. The Chantix has been a huge help. One other thing that has sunk in for me that might help you too, after you quit - when I thought I was having "cravings" in the first few days, I was really hungry. Eating something, anything but especially something like a granola bar, a glass of juice, fruit - would get me feeling much better in 15-20 minutes. Did some reading about the havoc that nicotine plays on your blood sugar and this now makes sense to me. Best of luck to you. You can do it. Margo :) :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 100 Amount Saved: $25.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 13 Mins: 58 Seconds: 20

Help...

Hi Bulldog - hope you can hang in there. It will be so worth it. I found it very interesting that a lot of what I attributed to "withdrawal" could just as easily be attributed to low blood sugar. Since I have made extra effort to eat frequently (not necessarily alot), my "withdrawal/ craving" has eased up a lot. Deep breathing, water, checking in here, Chantix have all helped too but the eating thing, at least for me, has made the most difference. (I'm one of those folks who could go all day without eating when I was smoking). Hope it helps and hang in there. Chantix users - how did you feel?

I had the same experience - didn't quit until a little over two weeks on the Chantix. I am now starting day 7 as a non smoker and each day has gotten easier. When I did my log this morning, I checked "1" for cravings. They really have gone way down by now. The first two days were the toughest, for sure, but also do-able. If you just know that it will get better each day it becomes possible. Chantix has really helped a lot with this, my final quit. I have never, ever made it this far before. Now I know I can be quit for good.
