need2quit, CONGRATULATIONS to you on your quit. Your husband is having the same conversation with himself, as I did with myself. It isn't his time yet but it's coming :) Be patient with him & let him figure it out on his own. He knows he has to do it & in time, he will.
Concentrate on yourself & don't fall prey to his addiction. I know a house can get really stinky, really fast so lay down the law. No smoking in the house!!! Do you have kids? Or pets? Pets, like children shouldn't have to put up with second hand smoke. If he gives you the "it's my choice" argument, give it right back to him. It is your choice to not smoke & not live in a smelly, smoky house.
Good luck & stay strong.

It's an emotional time & who can understand better than an ex-smoker? It's nice to have people to lean on, even if you don't know them or never met them.
Keep posting on how you are doing. We are your cheering section :)

Wow, I had to go back quite a few pages to find this thread. I originally posted it on Feb. 2nd & am happy to report that on April 2nd I did it :)
My employer offered any staff who wanted it, the full replacement cost of any type of stop smoking treatment & I opted to use the patch. I was going to get the patches anyways but when the hospital said they wanted to pay for it....well, I wasn't going to argue & I let them pay ;p
I had my last cigarette April 1st (no foolin') & I honestly did not enjoy it. Other than some crazy dreams, I have had no ill effects & the best part it is, I feel great & don't want a cigarette. I found myself only once, reach for cigarettes that weren't there & it made me laugh. Had to remind myself, "Oh yeah, I don't smoke anymore."
I am not concerned about my diet because as a family, we eat very healthy. I am more concerned about the portions that I find myself eating & I am also ready to dust off the treadmill & actually start using it. I am expecting some weight gain but that's ok because I am thrilled that I haven't had a cigarette in 17 days & I haven't killed anyone because of it LOL Seriously though, I am surprised that it's going this well.
I had to pass along the good news :)

You are doing great! Keep with the program & don't rush.
The last few days I've been feeling a little light headed myself. It's really the only withdrawl symptom that I've had. When I first got up this morning, I felt very woozy & had to lay back down for a minute until it passed. Be careful when it happens. Stop what you're doing & breathe.

Thank you all so much for the support. I really appreciate it & I applaud all of you on your quits too. Luna, that is one fine lookin' quit meter you have! Bear you are right about not remembering what it's like without the smokes. They pretty much controlled my life & it's probably going to take me a while to get the feeling of control back. I always feel like I am forgetting something when I get into my car. What I forgot was to put a cigarette in my mouth & light it....crazy! Like driving depends on a burning cigarette. Am I making sense? Allison, you are so right too. It feels right now & that's all that matters.
How did you all get so smart?
Thanx again. 18 Days strong :)
Hi Nance, I was just over at Bears' congratulating him on his milestone & read your reply. In the end I took your advice & ripped them to bits & threw them away. I really shouldn't have smelled them like I did because now I feel light headed. You were right...so was Danielle, I don't need to hang on to them.
Danielle, you touched on something that I had totally forgotten. Through our Peer Councilling at work, the leader said that it only takes a person 21 days to break a habit, or to start a new healthy habit. So it makes perfect sense to do little things in situations where I used to smoke, so in time it won't even enter my mind.
Thank you again & have a great day.
Alanna :)

OK, where's the 'delete post' button? I apologize, I'm an idiot. I thought it was a list of April quitters & not a significant date in so many peoples quit.
Sorry
