Thanks everybody,
Well today is day seven and I'm feeling pretty good. I liked the comment about being sleepy, I got that the last time I tried to quit using the patch. This ways a bit more interesting I guess. Sometimes I feel like I could lift a car over my head even though I know thats not possible. Sometimes I feel like I don't know what's going on at all and space out. I have a mentor at work and told him yesterday that in case he's wondering I'm not a crazy person that spaces out every five minutes I just quit smoking. He laughed and congratulated me. Dear SimpleSong I'm sure you will be fine. I like the common sense of the hypnosis tapes ie - "smoking is dumb because it is dumb and you know this because you can see the dumbness in its dumb," anyways you get the point. It's hard to argue with blunt logic I guess. Congrats to everyone else who is staying strong. This is a great site and I was skeptical at first but find it very uplifting to know that I'm not alone. Besides none of my friends will quit with me and my wife quit a couple years ago.
Congrats Jaset. Keep er going, it will get easier. I know the feeling of reaching for them all the time when they are not there. Kinda proves the brainwashing theory. Stay strong and find somthing else to spend your money on. lol.
Hi everybody,
Just wanted to let everyone know that today is day six for me. I feel pretty good now and have started weight lifting again. Haven't done that for quite awhile. It has been hard going cold turkey. I got some hypnosis tapes when I first quit. The tapes have a way of putting a thousand pieces of common sense in your head. I'm not sure if it's the reason I'm staying strong or just a help but I would reccomend it. Also it's good to have a goal. In my spare time I am a songwriter and have recorded a couple of my songs. I am putting my quit money aside to go back to the studio. Having goals (at least for me) is great motivation to stop
I have smoked a pack a day since the time I was 17. I am now 25 years old. It's actually kind of funny how I started smoking. I was giving some friends of mine a hard time and had a drag just to see what the big deal was. I really liked it. It didn't make me feel like one of the gang or cool just something that was mine I guess. I quit on Novemeber 11/06. My question is this I have quit before 10+ times, even once for 2 1/2 months. Why do we go back to it even when the nicotine is dead and gone?
Hi again,
Thanks a lot for the encouraging words. Today was the day where food is tasting better, I love this day. I went to subway and had a cold cut trio and had to close my eyes it was so enjoyable. Today was pretty hard but the cold cut trio made up for it. Thanks again for the words.
P.S - Not sure what you mean about the joe cool thing but I'm going to type it in the search box to see what I can find.
Hi everyone,
You know it is now almost 21 days and I would like to extend a couple things that have helped me along the way, besides of course this great site. I quit cold turkey so it was not fun but here were my actions. Hope this helps.
Week 1 - Downloaded stop smoking hypnosis tracks. Took my breaks in
my car listening to music. Eating at subway everyday.
Week 2 - Stopped hypnosis, downloaded relaxing music like "Frank
sinatra, beethoven, mozart, etc." continued to eat subway
everyday. Still listening to music on breaks.
Week 3 - Moved from relaxing music to hard and moderate rock
like "Korn, Marylin Manson, Disturbed, Staind, Drowning
pool, and the beatles." Quit subway and am now bringing
a lunch. Still listening to music on breaks; however,
now I am sometimes bringing my mp3 player and walking for
some breaks.
The most important thing about quitting is to have a goal to keep you motivated. Some of you already know that I am a musician though that is not what I do for a living. My goal was to save money for studio time. That goal has been my main focus and what has kept me strong. You must believe in yourself and turn into those people that you see in movies. You know what I'm talking about, the guy or girl is a big loser and then they train and train and boom they are Zorro, or Electra, etc. Anyways, I guess the point I'm trying to make in all this ramble is "Just because your quitting cold turkey doesn't mean you shouldn't have a plan." For me I'm in sales and I have been trained in work and in college that in this game you have to think quick on your feet to survive. I like the fact that every week I'm changing it up. For me the patch, or the gum just doesn't work. So keep strong, this site is amazing and a big part of my success. I would like to thank you all so much.

Hi all,
20 minutes away from 20 days. Today was a little rough. My wife took my car so I couldn't use my new hideout. It made me really want one. So I brought my mp3 player and I walked, oh did I walk and man are my legs ever sore. It was so cold that I could breath smoke and it made me feel very strong. I was actually sizing up people I would pass as I walked. Don't worry I'm not a violent person nor do I intend to act on these feelings. Lets just chalk it up to being a guy thing. It's nice to have that old feeling of don't mess with me rather than please don't mess with me you know. Anyways that is my speel for the day. So another day closer to my demo production. Bou ya. Keep fit and have fun.

Hi N2K,
Nice to meet you too. I had heard something like that before. It's funny when I first quit I strictly did it to raise money but now I realize that the money without the best potential is useless. I could have a million dollars but if I can't sing the my highest capacity then I'm just wasting my money. Thanks N2K, I will definately keep you posted.
