quitting soon

My name is Pattie and I have been smoking for 23 years. I have never really tried to quit before so this going to be an experience. I am on Chantix and have until May 8th (my quit date) to taper my smoking. I find myself anxious and nervous about quitting, I have been trying to slow down and only smoke when I'm really needing one. I feel testy and irritable already! The sloser my quit day gets, the more I want to smoke. I sit at a desk for 10 hours a day and most of my smoking is from stress and boredom. I am needing some advice on how to stop thinking about smoking.

Its been 25 hours since my last one....

Congrats to you! I'm on Chantix and my quit date is in 3 days. Your experience sounds really positive and you should be proud of yourself. Stay positive and you will do well. I hope my quit goes as well as yours.

First 3 days of Chantix?

I have been on Chantix for 2 days and I have the same symptoms; confusion, spacy, forgetful, fatigue, and the out of body feelings. I feel like I'm in a haze :quest: I also feel crabby and testy  I'm worried that it's going to get worse when I take 2 pills a day

Going out tonight for my first dinner and drinks!! I'm a little scared!

Hi Kathleen My advice is drink about half of what you would normally drink, not as fun but helps with cravings. If you feel like you need a cig really bad, step outside for a minute. Good Luck and make sure to update us My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/8/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 131 Amount Saved: $29.4 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 16 Mins: 18 Seconds: 47

2nd Day Smoke Free on Chantix

I'm on Chantix but haven't reached my quit date yet. May 8th is the big day, but I might bump it up because the desire to smoke is lessening every day and I'm noticing that the smell of cigarettes is starting to gag me :) Good luck and congrats on your 2 days smoke free!

Glad to meet you all

Hello Heather, I too have found inspiration from everyone who writes in. I log on periodically throughout the day for support because I know I cannot do this alone. My quit date is May 8th and I am on Chantix. After the first pill I began having withdrawls, I am on day 3. It's an amazing feeling to be smoking a cigarette and having withdrawls at the same time. In the last three days I have reduced my cigarettes from 15 a day to 7 and on May 8th I will be free! Good luck on your decision to quit, you can do it!!!!!!!

day 2 - still not smoking

Thank you all for the words on encouragement, with your help I made it to day 3. I'm still wanting to smoke - even worse than yesterday. I know I won't light up but I am very tempted right now. I'll stay here probably most of the day ;) because I need support from people who know how I feel.. Thank you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Day 3 for me and I am using...

Hi Kathleen, I'm a Chantix user also and it's been 6 days since my last smoke. I have to say I LOVE the way everything smells....including myself. I can smell a smoker a mile away now and I wonder why I ever allowed myself to stink like that. The road hasn't been easy, even with the pill but I know I couldn't quit without it - or this website. Everyone here has something to contribute to my quit and I enjoy taking this journey with them My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/8/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 112 Amount Saved: $25.2 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 13 Mins: 59 Seconds: 48
