I'm new to this so you will have to excuse me if I'm not posting properly.
Been going through some heavy duty anxiety the past 7  years.  I have read every book(over 50) on anxiety thinking it would help, of course temporarily but then comes back stronger with more symptoms. In the past - (25 years ago) I have had premature beats that I obsessed about until a cardiologist had me go through the usual tests and said it was anxiety and that I should try not to take on so many things...this was short lived and then a full blown case of anxiety that lasted 1 year.
Worked with a therapist weekly for a year and he assured me that I wasn't going crazy...that worked (I think)
10 years later before the birth of our first child...the whole anxiety thing came back. Back to the therapist to get the reassurance that I wasn't going crazy.  7 years ago went through a stressful period looking after a family member and reading all about strokes, heart conditions, and dementia...that I started to take on all these symptoms-yes I'm a hypochondriac (google is my friend when I'm bored and/or worried about pseudo  health issues). I have diagnosed and scared myself with all the different diseases and symptoms...too embarrassed to list here.
Through my google searches I found this site hoping to get to the bottom of this...I have started to avoid things slowly thinking that it might help reduce the symptoms...of course because my interpretation "that stress is no good for you"
and trying to control things.  I have self diagnosed and told by other professional that I have GAD and a bit of OCD and also a HYPOCHONDRIAC.  I have had EKG's ECHO's, HOLTOR MONITOR CT Scans, Colonoscopy the works.
I just registered in the program any tips suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I enjoyed the article on memory...had to/still reading it over lot of technical info to get through in one read.

Working on and trying to get through  the home exercises and have a question with regards to Worry...is it a feeling (automatic) or is it a behaviour (control)? Is it a form of rumination?

I'm seeing the surge or unexplained anxiety (1st fear) as the  trigger and the other triggers that branch off -the 2nd fear or apprehension (worry). Most of these are in the "what if?'..I guess I worry excessivley because I've always been a problem solver I see problems as always having a solution..which I know at one level can't always be true.  I guess I'm just conditioned (core beliefs) to think this way and find this part the most challenging...I need to change.

Health worries, eventhough told by the professional nothing physically wrong...try to use positive thinking but part of me questions it this process because I though positive thinking doesn't work or maybe its just my interpretation or the way I'm using the technique...Do I just need to accept the uncertaintly that I might have a serious problem (sounds a bit confusing)?
Tips or suggestions are always welcome...

Great material...I will be reading this over a few times - drawing/understanding the 'thought triangle'...to get the visual 3 dimensional view...beginning to make sense

Not clear on the distraction part.

Thanks

I drew out the 'thought triangle'. The 'distraction part' now makes sense...now I need to do the work!!

Thanks again!!
