New to the site BUT not new to the failure of tring to quit

Cindy, Step back and take a time out. Think about it carefully and know that if you really want to beat this addiction, you can. You are no different from many of us here, many who are living proof that this can be done but you must really, really want it. No-one says it will be easy but I SAY it is definitely doable!! 2 years ago today I sat where you sit now and with the same thoughts. Today, I complete 730 days without one puff ever what a feeling and you can have that feeling too but only if you decide you really want it. The choice is yours good luck! Penitent d730

What is SPECIAL about YOUR quit date?

Hi AA, It could have been any day of the year and in recent failed quits it was but today was the day that I finally got it!! And 2 years later I know that I got it right! 18th May will never be the same again, that day in 2004 I woke up and finished with it - thank God and Me! 18th May is more important to me than my birthday - no kidding!!! Any Day, Just Quit!!! Penitent d730

A Genuine Concern

Rocmog, I certainly won't consider myself wrong otherwise it would have been pointless starting this thread in the first place but ask any question you like of me and I will be only too pleased to help you out a bit; I feel that I have learnt quite a lot by studying old postings and contributing a few myself in the 2 years I have been here at the site. Congratulations on you decision to quit and good luck. Penitent d730 P.S. Hey diligent N2k, how are you? Great retrieval of the "Memory Lane" thread from last year, I guess if nothing else, I'm consistent! thanks and so glad you are still going strong! All The Best Pen d730

Thanks Josie, just the reaffirmation I was hoping for. Enjoy the site members, post anywhere you like and stay quit. Pen d729

A Genuine Concern

Mr Ed, BFS has eyes like a hawk!(Thanks Pam) You are correct, it is indeed 2 years tomorrow and I remember my 100 days on 26th August 2004 like it was yesterday. Good luck with your quit and my premature congratulations to you on obtaining permission to go to the beach next Wednesday! Penitent d729

A Genuine Concern

One thing has been bothering me for some time here and I am afraid that it may frighten prospective quitters to a degree that they feel marginalised and vanish from the site before they can establish themselves. That would be sad. I am not sure that exclusive groups are a good thing. Now I know that they are NOT exclusive but to a new member, I bet they look that way. 50-99 day clubs, monthly quit groups, the 100 day beach, and VIP club at a year? I know that some enjoy these clubs and that is fair enough, I just worry about new quitters who may be deterred by the cliquey nature of such groups. I hope I'm wrong butI may not be. I needed to air that view. Penitent d729

A question for the VIP club

Simple question, simple answer. Yes, there will come a time when you will be "more relaxed about relaxing" and in my opinion it may be sooner that you think. Good Luck d726
